GSL School News, October 1, 2008

Dear Parents:

Happy October to everyone. It seems like this year is flying by! Important events follow below. Remember that we close next Wednesday, Oct. 8 at noon for Fall Break; ASC and Holiday Care will be open for those who have registered.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Friday, Oct. 3
School is closed, but ASC will be open for those who have registered. We will offer complimentary care (maximum of one hour) for GSL students in grades SK-5 who need to be supervised while their parents are attending their teacher conference. These children should be checked in at the Cafeteria, and they will meet in the Lower School Science Lab.

Spirit Week and Football Homecoming
Thursday, Oct. 2: Lower School students may wear their Light Em’ Up shirts to celebrate Spirit Week. Pep rally at 2:30 will feature the traditional GSL volleyball game between the 8th girls volleyball team and the football team.
Monday, October 6: HOMECOMING…. GO SAINTS!
This is an all school dress-down day to wear Saints red & white!
Pep Rally & 9th Grade Alumni Return to Sign Yearbooks at 2:15 pm in the Gym
Homecoming Games at Snowden Field (2233 Harbert Ave.)

• Come cheer for the 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade football teams as they battle Holy Rosary. Games start at 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm.
  
• Parking is always challenging at the field; please walk, bike, or carpool if you can! The field entrance off Cox (adjacent to the railroad tracks) will be open for those who wish to enter on that side.
• Admission $4.00 adults, $1.00 children (GSL students, Booster Club members, and teachers enter FREE)
• 8th Grade Presentation (half of the 8th grade class families are presented at football HC; the other half are presented at basketball HC); 6:00 pm.
• GSL alumni passing contest at halftime of the 7th/8th game.
• Freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for sale by the GSL Booster Club, along with the "Saints light 'em up" commemorative t-shirt.
• GSL School Spirit Wear will also be on sale!

GSL Church News

Blessing of the Pets Service is Sunday, Oct. 5 at 4:00 pm!

Church Basketball Registration forms are due Friday, Oct. 3.
The Church is still recruiting basketball coaches for JK-4th grade teams. If you are interested in helping out, email Christi Authement at christi@gslparish.org.

Open House for Prospective Parents
